The Museum’s next exhibit is an exciting one with LSU sports memorabilia and artifacts, a few dating back to the early 20th century such as the 1907 football which was used to play in a game in Cuba, to track shoes worn by track star Al Moreau, to jerseys, jackets, and helmets worn by LSU greats to the most current artifact- an LSU women’s pink decorated basketball jersey worn during a special Kay Yow Breast Cancer Awareness Tournament this spring.
Trophies, cups, titles and awards can be seen such as the Louisiana Amateur Golf Association trophy, the Heisman Memorial Trophy given to Billy Cannon (in June) and the 2007 National Championship trophy (in August). Lots of game faces of LSU athletes from Natchitoches and across the states are exhibited and even some interesting facts and statistics for the diehard sports fan.
Friday, May 2 the exhibition will open to the public. A local radio station will broadcast live from the Museum Friday afternoon from 3:00 to 5:00. June 20th a reception honoring the 1958 National Championship Football team will be held at the Museum during the team’s 50th anniversary of their great success.
